Demonstration Alert

Location: Gathering points may include, but are not limited to, the following areas in Khartoum, Sudan:
- Areas around downtown Khartoum
- Omdurman
- North Khartoum
Additionally, demonstrations and marches may take place throughout the country.
Event: Demonstrations are expected to take place on Saturday, December 19, 2020, beginning around 11:00am local time. The demonstrations intend to highlight the second anniversary of the beginning of Sudan’s revolution. Roads around Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) Headquarters are expected to be closed.
U.S. government personnel are advised to avoid those areas on December 19, 2020.

- Avoid non-essential travel.
- Keep a low profile.
- Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests.
- Review your personal security plans.
- Monitor local media for updates.
