Event: The Department of State has issued a Global Level 4 Health Advisory advising U.S. citizens to avoid all international travel due to the global impact of COVID-19 and in countries where commercial departure options remain available, U.S. citizens who live in the United States should arrange for immediate return to the United States,

Update: The U.S. Mission to Sudan received confirmation of a special Ethiopian Airlines flight for U.S. citizens departing Khartoum to Washington DC or Toronto, Canada via Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the morning of Monday, March 30, 2020.   (The exact times are not yet available.)  This flight is NOT U.S. government operated or funded.  The cost of this one-way ticket is USD 3,840.  Travelers will be required to pay out-of-pocket for all costs.  Availability of seats, pricing, and boarding is controlled by Ethiopian Airlines.  U.S. citizens must contact the Khartoum branch of Ethiopian Airlines to arrange ticketing and payment.  All payment is due at time of booking and must be paid in cash, in US dollars.  Please bring your valid U.S. passport to the branch for ticketing.  The fare must be paid by Sunday, March 29 at 13:00.  We will announce flight details as soon as they are available.  

If you have not done so already, please email the name, date of birth, passport number, and passport date of expiration, for all those planning to board this flight to KHRTCovidDepart2020@state.gov.

Please note that the number of seats for U.S. citizens is limited to 34.  Ethiopian Airlines will assign these seats on a first-come-first-serve basis.  Those wishing to travel on this flight must work directly with the Khartoum Branch of Ethiopian Airlines. Passengers are responsible for all costs and travel arrangements for travel from Khartoum to their final destination.
