Security Alert – U. S. Embassy Khartoum, Sudan (April 13, 2023)
Location: Meroe, Khartoum, Sudan, and Other Areas
Event: Due to the increased presence of security forces, American citizens are advised to avoid travel to Karima, Northern Sudan, and surrounding areas. In addition, U.S. government personnel have been prohibited from traveling outside of the Khartoum/Omdurman/Bahri metropolitan area for the next week, through April 19, 2023.
Actions to Take:
- Do not travel to Karima, Northern Sudan, and surrounding areas.
- Be aware of your surroundings.
- Monitor local media for updates.
- Review the Department of State travel advisory for Sudan.
