Passport Services

The consular office accepts applications for new and renewal passports through our appointment system. To schedule an appointment, Click Here. The Embassy estimates that citizens will receive their new passports approximately 2 to 3 weeks from date of submission. Citizens are urged to plan ahead and submit their applications two months prior to the expiration date of their passport.

Applicants must provide:

  • evidence of identity and citizenship (e.g. old passport, original U.S.naturalization certificate); birth certificate and government issued photo ID, or
  • two recent full front face photographs (2″x 2″ against a light background on thin, unglazed paper);
  • a completed application form; and
  • Passport fees are listed on the Fees for Selected Consular Services page
  • copies of all original documents

Photo age progression – Passport renewals for children whose most recent passport was issued under the age of 5 should present one to two photographs per year of the child from the age in the previous passport to the present age.

In emergency cases, the Embassy will be able to issue limited validity passports for immediate travel. These limited validity passports will not, however, be renewable. Persons issued a limited validity passport will need to apply for a standard photo-digitized passport.

Applicants must personally appear at the U.S. Consulate for all passport services.  We highly recommend that you follow the links below to fill out the required forms online and print them before coming into the U.S. Embassy.  To apply for a passport, please make an appointment on our online appointment system and bring the required documents listed below to your appointment.  The Embassy requests that applicants present original documents when submitting their application. You will need to bring the following:

  • Evidence of U.S. CitizenshipSuch as a U.S. Birth Certificate, a U.S. Consular Report of Birth Abroad, a U.S. Certification of Birth, a U.S. Certificate of Citizenship, a U.S. Naturalization Certificate, a passport of your U.S. citizen parent(s) in which you are included, an original, long-form birth certificate, if your proof of citizenship is the U.S. passport of a parent in which you are included;
  • One passport sized (2x2inch) photograph – see photo requirements for information.  Photos which do not meet the requirements will be rejected;
  • Valid, government issued photo I.D. (such as U.S. or foreign passport, drivers license or military I.D.);
  • All foreign passports that you may currently hold, have held, or been included in;
  • Your foreign (non U.S.) naturalization certificate: if you have acquired another nationality through naturalization or registration since the issuance of your proof of citizenship;
  • If you have changed your name since your proof of citizenship was issued, you will be required to furnish legal documentation to prove this change;
  • If you were born in the United States, you must submit any official records from the time you spent there, such as school or medical records;
  • For applicants under 16, a birth certificate must also be presented and both parents must attend the appointment with the child.  (If one parent is out of the country, please provide an original, notarized Statement of Consent DS 3053 (PDF 44 KB) from that parent.  If one parent has sole custody, that parent must show a legally binding court document granting sole custody. If one parent is deceased, please provide an original certificate of death.)

  • The non-refundable application fee for a U.S. passport is $115.00 (for under 16s) or $145.00 (for over 16s).  You will pay the fee in person to the Cashier at the time you appear at the Embassy.  Fee information is available here.

Applicant is Under Age 16

  • The child and both parents must appear in person unless one parent presents an original court order for sole custody, a death certificate for the other parent, or a notarized Statement of Consent DS 3053 (PDF 44 KB) or Special Circumstances DS 5525 (PDF 44 KB) from the absent parent.
  • Original birth certificate (with English translation if applicable) or original adoption decree, and one copy
  • Applicant’s most recent passport, and one copy of the passport bio data page
  • Parents’ valid passports or government-issued photo IDs, and one copy of the passport bio data page for each parent
  • DS-11 (PDF 104 KB) passport form.
  • One passport sized (2x2inch) photograph – see photo requirements for information.  Photos which do not meet the requirements will be rejected;
  • The non-refundable application fee for a passport renewal is $115.00. You will pay the fee in person to the Cashier at the time you appear at the Embassy.  Fee information is available here.

Applicant is Over Age 16 AND Most Recent Passport was Valid for 5 Years

  • Your most recent U.S. passport;
  • One passport sized (2x2inch) photograph – see photo requirements for information.  Photos which do not meet the requirements will be rejected
  • Form DS-11 (PDF 104 KB) Before you begin, see our YouTube video for instructions on completing the form.
  • Original evidence of your name change, if applicable, such as marriage certificate, Change of Name Deed Poll or Statutory Declaration and court order.
  • The non-refundable application fee for a passport renewal is $145.00.  You will pay the fee in person to the Cashier at the time you appear at the Embassy.  Fee information is available here.

Applicant is Over Age 16 AND Most Recent Passport was Valid for 10 Years

  • Your most recent U.S. passport;
  • One passport sized (2x2inch) photograph – see photo requirements for information.  Photos which do not meet the requirements will be rejected
  • Form DS-82 (PDF 84 KB). Before you begin, see our YouTube video for instructions on completing the form.
  • Original evidence of your name change, if applicable, such as marriage certificate, Change of Name Deed Poll or Statutory Declaration and court order.
  • The non-refundable application fee for a passport renewal is $110.00. You will pay the fee in person to the Cashier at the time you appear at the Embassy. Fee information is available here.

If you have changed your name or need to correct data on your passport, you will need to have this change reflected in your passport. Please note that passports can no longer be amended; therefore you will need to apply for a new passport.

You must bring the following:

  • Valid passport
  • Completed form DS-5504 (PDF 84 KB).
  • Evidence supporting change in identifying information (e.g., marriage certificate, amended birth certificate, court order, etc.)
  • Documentation showing that the information in the passport is incorrect* (e.g. Original birth certificate, marriage certificate, previous passport)
  • One passport sized (2x2inch) photograph – see photo requirements for information.  Photos which do not meet the requirements will be rejected
  • Fees: No charge If the change/correction is within one year after issuance

If your U.S. passport has been lost or stolen, you must apply for a new passport in person through a pre-arranged appointment.

You must bring the following:

  • Evidence of U.S. Citizenship – Such evidence may include but is not limited to: U.S. birth or naturalization certificate, Report of Birth Abroad or an expired U.S. passport.
  • Valid, government issued photo I.D.(such as a U.S. or foreign passport, drivers licence or military I.D)
  • Police report
  • One passport sized (2x2inch) photograph – see photo requirements for information.  Photos which do not meet the requirements will be rejected
  • For applicants under 16, a birth certificate must also be presented and both parents must attend the appointment with the child. If only one parent can appear a notarized Parental Statement of Consent DS 3053 (PDF 44 KB) from the absent parent.  Attending parents must bring government issued photo I.D.
  • Applicants aged 16-17 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.  The accompanying adult must bring government issued photo I.D
  • Form DS-11 (PDF 104 KB).
  • Form DS-64 (PDF 52 KB): Statement Regarding Lost or Stolen Passport
  • The non-refundable application fee for a U.S. passport is $115.00 (for under 16s) or $145.00 (for over 16s).  You will pay the fee in person to the Cashier at the time you appear at the Embassy.  Fee information is available here.

U.S. Passports that are damaged or in poor condition must be replaced, as they are no longer valid for travel. For security reasons, damaged passports may be retained by this office.  Please note that your damaged U.S passport is not proof of citizenship or identity.

If your U.S. passport is damaged, you must apply for a new passport in person through a pre-arranged appointment.

You will need to bring the following:

  • Your damaged U.S. passport;
  • Evidence of U.S. CitizenshipSuch evidence may include but is not limited to: U.S. birth or naturalization certificate, Report of Birth Abroad or an expired, undamaged U.S. passport;
  • Valid, government issued photo I.D. (such as foreign passport, driving license or military I.D);
  • One passport sized (2x2inch) photograph – see photo requirements for information.  Photos which do not meet the requirements will be rejected
  • For applicants under 16, a birth certificate must also be presented and both parents must attend the appointment with the child. If only one parent can appear, . If only one parent can appear a notarized Parental Statement of Consent DS 3053 (PDF 44 KB) from the absent parent. Attending parents must bring government issued photo I.D.;
  • Applicants aged 16-17 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.  The accompanying adult must bring government issued photo I.D

Eligibility

The issuance of a second passport is not automatic and should be considered an exception to the regulations.  An application is approved on an individual basis and only when justified. Second passports may be issued for a validity of up to two years if:

  • A passport is needed both for confirmed travel and submission for foreign visa applications simultaneously;
  •  The primary passport is held by Sudan government or foreign embassy and the applicant has confirmed travel; and/or
  • The applicant has confirmed travel plans to a foreign country which will deny a visa or entry to the bearer of a passport containing markings or visas showing travel to certain other countries.

Required Documents:

  • Your current primary full validity passport and/or your previous second passport (if applicable);
  • One passport sized (2x2inch) photograph – see photo requirements for information.  Photos which do not meet the requirements will be rejected
  • A completed “Statement in Support of Application for a Second Passport” (PDF 44 KB);
  • Form DS-82 (PDF 84 KB).
  • The non-refundable application fee for an adult U.S passport is $110.00.  You will pay the fee in person to the Cashier at the time you appear at the Embassy.  Fee information is available here.

The U.S. Passport Card can be used to enter the United States from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Bermuda at land border crossings or sea ports-of-entry and is more convenient and less expensive than a passport book. The passport card cannot be used for international travel by air.

Please note:  the application fee for first time adult (over 16) applicants is $65.00; for a previous passport/passport card holder the fee is $30:00 and $25.00 for all minors under the age of 16. You will pay the fee in person to the Cashier at the time you appear at the Embassy.  Fee information is available here

If you were issued an emergency, limited-validity passport at a U.S Embassy because you had urgent need of travel, you should apply to renew this passport for a full-validity passport as soon as possible.

You must furnish the following:

  • One passport sized (2x2inch) photograph – see photo requirements for information.  Photos which do not meet the requirements will be rejected
